  • Approximately 300 yards of worsted weight yarn
  • Size 8 (5.0mm) circular knitting needles
  • Yarn needle
  • Optional: small flowers or ribbons for embellishments

Knitting Instructions

  1. Cast on 140 stitches.
  2. Join in the round and knit 2 rows.
  3. Begin the flower pattern:
  • Row 1: Knit 1, *make 1, knit 2 together, knit 7, repeat from * to end of row.
  • Row 2: Knit.
  • Row 3: Knit 2, *knit 2 together, make 1, knit 6, repeat from * to end of row.
  • Row 4: Knit.
  • Repeat rows 1-4 four more times.
  • Continue knitting in stockinette stitch (knit every row) until the cocoon measures approximately 18 inches in length.
  • Begin decreasing for the neck opening:
    • Knit 10, bind off 20, knit to end of row.
    • Knit 9, bind off 20, knit to end of row.
    • Knit 8, bind off 20, knit to end of row.
    • Bind off all remaining stitches.
  • Weave in any loose ends and enjoy your finished Baby Flower Cocoon!
