After the war, Cornplanter became a leader of the Seneca people. He worked to negotiate treaties with the United States government that would protect Seneca land and rights. In 1794, Cornplanter helped to negotiate the Treaty of Canandaigua, which established a permanent peace between the Seneca and the United States.

In 1812, the War of 1812 broke out. Cornplanter again fought on the side of the United States against the British. He led a group of Seneca warriors at the Battle of Tippecanoe and the Battle of the Thames.

After the war, Cornplanter continued to work for the welfare of his people. He advocated for education and economic development. He also helped to establish the Seneca Mission School, which was the first school for Native Americans in the United States.

Cornplanter died in 1836. He was a respected leader and diplomat, and he played a key role in shaping the history of the Seneca people.
