About the Author

David Gemmell was a Scottish fantasy author. He is best known for his Drenai series, which follows the adventures of the mercenary Druss the Legend. Gemmell's other works include the Rigante series, the Hawk Queen series, and the Jon Shannow series.

Gemmell was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1948. He served in the Royal Marines before becoming a journalist. He began writing fantasy novels in the early 1980s. Gemmell died in 2006 at the age of 57.
