Early Life and Reign

Tutankhamun was born in 1341 BC to Pharaoh Akhenaten and Queen Kiya. He was the ninth of ten children, and he had several older half-brothers and sisters. Akhenaten was a controversial pharaoh who introduced a new religion centered around the god Aten. He also moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes to Akhetaten.

Tutankhamun became pharaoh at the age of nine after the death of his father. He was married to his half-sister, Ankhesenamun, and they had two daughters who died in infancy.

Tutankhamun's reign was short-lived, and he died at the age of 19. The cause of his death is unknown, but it may have been due to an infection or a chariot accident.

The Discovery of Tutankhamun's Tomb

Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. The tomb was located in the Valley of the Kings, and it was the first intact royal tomb to be discovered in over a century.

Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb was a major archaeological event. The tomb contained a wealth of treasures, including gold jewelry, furniture, and chariots. The most famous artifact found in the tomb was Tutankhamun's gold funeral mask.

Tutankhamun's Legacy

Tutankhamun's legacy is one of mystery and intrigue. His short reign and tragic death have led to much speculation about his life and times. However, the discovery of his intact tomb has provided a wealth of information about ancient Egyptian culture and history.
